Clinton, Maine

Kennebec county. This fine township is bounded on the E. by Kennebec river. The Sebasticook passes through the town, and, at the falls on that river, affords it a great hydraulic power. It has a neat and pleasant village on the bank of the Sebasticook, some manufactures, and large agricultural products. In 1837 this town produced a considerable quantity of wool, and 10,807 bushels of wheat. Incorporated, 1795. Population, 1837, 2,642. Clinton lies 24 miles N. by E. from Augusta and about 12 S. by E. from Skowhegan.
